The 1M-pixel TC285SPD IMPACTRONTM CCD employs charge multiplication, a new technique in imaging introduced by Texas Instruments. In the CCD, charge is multiplied in several stages within the readout serial register before it ever reaches the output amplifier. In this way noise is reduced since there is no need to amplify the voltage of the readout charge conversion amplifier. It is available either as a standard device or with a Peltier-cooled package.The TC285SPD achieve over 60% peak QE, and can be run at 30 frames per second, for real-time, ultra-low-light applications.
